Events of last summer's Seacoast Century are back in the news, as Pamela Wells' and Elise Bouchard's killer has been indicted on eight charges, including two counts negligent homicide. The indictment also reveals that the 19-year-old unlicensed driver, Darrien Hess, who plowed into the four cyclists, had four drugs in her system that tragic morning -- fentanyl, klonopin, percocet and benzodiazepines.
I'm relieved to hear the charges, but still deeply saddened and angry over the deaths of Pamela and Elise. My heart goes out to their family and friends, as well as to both of the survivors, Uwe Uhmeyer and Margo Heigh. That fateful day still shakes me 12 weeks later, as I recall everything that happened that day. It's been a hard one to forget.
