Bittersweet

My Friday 1st & 2nd graders --
These faces make me laugh.

My afterschool classes have wrapped up for the year. Most of the kids know I won't be teaching next year, and when I mentioned it a month ago, several of the boys were quite concerned about what I was planning to do next. I answered, "I'm not quite sure. What do you think I should do?" They all had great ideas, but my favorite was, "I think you should go to college. That's what teenagers are supposed to do." (I love first graders.)

It was at that moment I realized that the real secret to staying young is not constant exercise and eating right, (though I'm sure it helps) -- it's sitting on the floor with a big pile of Legos, playing with a bunch of kids. We had some tears today... some were mine. I'm going to miss them all.

I had a good week following Shayne's training plan. We had several gorgeous Spring days at the beginning of the week that allowed me to get out and ride. Rain is expected tomorrow, though, (Saturday), possibly cancelling our Cyclopath ride.
