EOD stands for Explosive Ordnance Disposal. An EOD specialist is part of a joint operations skill covering all branches of the military -- Army, Marines, Navy and Air Force. Technicians are specially trained for disarming, rendering safe and disposing a variety of unexploded devices on both land and sea, including terrorist devices commonly known as Improvised Explosive Devices (or IEDs). IEDs in today's war zones are responsible for the majority of casualties and injuries to our troops. In addition to roadside bombs, EOD Technicians are trained to destruct nuclear, chemical and biological weapons. These elite units serve in one of the most dangerous jobs in our military.
